Emergenetics
Emergenetics! What is it?
The studies on leadership are clear about one thing: to be a truly great leader you must know yourself-how you think and how you act.
Emergenetics is a blend of genetics and learned experiences expressed as a behavior and way of thinking. The participants learn how their thinking and behavior attributes affect their creativity, productivity, and interactions with others. During the session you will be scientifically grouped and regrouped with other participants as you learn how thinking and behavioral attributes affect your personal and professional lives.
Emergenetics is based on research that indicates: 1. Individuals were born with traits to act and think in certain ways, and 2. They modified these traits as they interacted with their surroundings.
The combination of experiences and genetics intertwine to form certain personality traits. There are seven basic sets of attributes described by Emergenetics, four ways of thinking and three ways of behaving. The four thinking attributes are Analytical (Blue), Structural (Green), Social (Red) and Conceptual (Yellow). The three behavioral attributes (Purple) are Expressiveness, Assertiveness and Flexibility.
The Emergenetics Profile provides a portrait of a person’s thinking, behavior, preferences, and communication styles. This Meeting of the Minds session facilitates increased understanding through personal knowledge of how thinking and behavior affect the work environment—including productivity, team effectiveness and creativity. With this workshop organizations immediately see a new way to group complementary individuals as teams that has been scientifically proven to provide better results. The Meeting of the Minds workshop also underscores the ability for organizations to harness cognitive diversity to come up with new solutions to the same old challenges.

“Understanding oneself is the key in becoming a leader and Emergenetics is the foundation of that discovery process. With Emergenetics, you gain the knowledge of how you think and behave and how you approach work, and that becomes a bridge to understanding others and ultimately to becoming a stronger leader.”
Emergenetics is a unique profiling tool that provides a clear window into the way you think and behave. The Emergenetics Profile is a scientifically-based, statistically accurate instrument that outlines your personality in a visually appealing, easy-to-understand format. And…with hundreds of thousands of people profiled already…you know it works.
Formulated by Geil Browning, Ph.D. and Wendell Williams, Ph.D. in 1991, the Emergenetics Profile is built on years of work focused on personality and the brain, including doctoral research at the University of Nebraska, post-doctoral research at Harvard University, and industry research and testing. Based on a split-brain model developed by the Nobel prize-winning neuropsychologist, Dr. Roger Sperry, the Emergenetics model is focused on four different thinking attributes that compose a left- and right-brain concept. Additionally, the Emergenetics Profile measures three behavioral attributes, as during the development process it became apparent, through extensive research and market assessments, that the interplay between thinking and behavior was integral to truly understanding oneself.
In addition to measuring thinking and behavioral preferences, Emergenetics is built on scientific evidence which points to the necessity to factor in both nature and nurture in the debate about human development. Studies have consistently shown that people’s genetic background is influenced by their environment and life experiences. In this way, Emergenetics was developed to specifically test and assess the way personality emerges through life experiences from the building blocks of genetics.
