The Katrina Diaries

Read the stories of the paramedics, EMTs, doctors, nurses, administrators, support staff and volunteers who were on the scene before, during and after Hurricane Katrina. We were present from the pre-storm evacuations, during the storm, and throughout the surreal and unexpectedly tragic aftermath. The accounts you will read in The Katrina Diaries are told first-hand by healers…the people who treated the wounds of the traumatized and injured, held the sick and dying in their arms, and did their best to create a haven of safety in the midst of terror and chaos.

My profuse thanks goes out to these incredible folks who did all they could to assist under the most trying times with so few resources available for days. Will put this on my “to read” list. As a Calif. tourist stuck in the Superdome during Katrina I know this will be quite poignant for me.

Ross – I am the sister of Bob Peel and live in Seattle with my family. (one daughter is a nurse who is partners with an EMT) I am looking forward to reading your account of the Katrina Diaries when I get my book. I applaud your efforts and your unselfish motives to donate the profits to the men and women who spend their lives saving others.
Good luck to you and may God bless you.

Thanks you, Linda, for your very kind comments. Seattle is one of my favorite cities. I almost went there for my residency in psychiatry.

Ross,

Just read through your e-book. Fascinating, riveting stuff. I’m proud to know many of you who managed to be so effective and efficient, in spite of the system, during those trying times. Thanks for providing this great alternative view of the events from those who were right in the thick of it.

Dr. Judice,

My name is Mark Gerano. We met during Hurricane Katrina. I am one of the Cincinnati area medics who was stranded in the dome. I came across the book online and had the opportunity to read it. Thanks a lot for taking to time to put such a nice bit of work together. It does seem like yesterday that we found ourselves in the middle of the disaster. The situation really shaped some areas of my life. If you’d ever have time or would be willing to chat for a short time to catch up feel free to shoot me an email at markgerano@hotmail.com. Take Care!
